One of two men charged in the 1993 shooting death of a Fitchburg teenager is scheduled to be arraigned Friday. Robert D’Lucca, 49, will appear in Worcester Superior Court in the shooting death of 15-year-old Deondray Atwood, according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. D’Lucca and Lawrence Calafell, 51, of Gardner, were charged last month with one count of murder in Atwood’s death. Additionally, both were charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of ammunition without an FID card. D’Lucca and Calafell are accused of shooting into a parked car on Nov. 25, 1993, on Daniels Street with Atwood and two other teenagers inside. Atwood was fatally shot several times. Another passenger suffered multiple gunshot wounds and survived his injuries. The driver of the car was uninjured. D’Lucca was charged with the crime in 1993, but was not tried at the time after he was arrested in New York on separate murder charges. He has been serving time at Sing Sing Correctional Facility and was brought back to Massachusetts for arraignment. Following the indictment in March, Calafell was arrested without incident in Fitchburg by the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and later next week.
