McALLEN, Texas (border report) — Two men on Texas’ new list of the “10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants” have been arrested, Governor Greg Abbott announced.
Abbott announced the new most wanted list earlier this month as part of the state’s Operation Lone Star border security initiative.

It is run by the Texas Department of Public Safety and Texas Crime Stoppers and cash rewards are offered for tips leading to arrests. according to the DPS website.
The number one most wanted, Víctor Hugo Chox González, was arrested, as was the third most wanted, Severando Trejo Durán, Abbott said.
Chox Gonzalez, 38, was wanted for aggravated sexual assault of a child, indecency with a child by sexual contact, failure to identify himself and giving false/fictitious information, and failure to identify himself as a fugitive. He has a criminal record of child cruelty, assault on a family member, DWI with a child under 15 years of age, and illegal entry into the United States. according to DPS.
“In just one week, two criminals on Texas’ Top 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants list were captured and put behind bars.” Abbott tweeted Thursday in a post on X.
Abbott says Texas is the first state to release its own list of most wanted criminals in connection with immigrants who entered the state illegally.
“We have seen record levels of illegal immigration, including dangerous criminals and terrorists who are a threat to the public safety of our state and our nation. These illegal immigrants will now be featured on our Top 10 Most Wanted Criminal Illegal Immigrants List. “Texas is a state of law and order, and with the help of our fellow Texans, we will ensure that the illegal immigrants on this list are taken off our streets and put behind bars to keep our communities safe.” Abbott announced the list of most wanted criminal illegal immigrants on June 5.
“Texas is the first state to implement a statewide crackdown on these criminals with a Most Wanted List to try to locate, identify and arrest them.” Abbott told FOX News. “This is once again what Texas needs to do to respond to Joe Biden’s open border policies.”

The top 10 list currently includes all men listed as white Hispanic. Nine of the 10 men are wanted for crimes related to sexual assault or sexual abuse and most involving children. A man is wanted for human smuggling or trafficking. Another man is wanted for sexual assault and “terrorist threat” according to DPS.
His last known addresses ranged from Austin to Houston, Irving and El Paso, Texas.
Rewards offered range from $3.00 to $5,000.
Tips must be submitted through the Texas 10 Most Wanted website, the state’s website. The 10 most searched Facebook pagesor the DPS mobile app. All tips are anonymous.

Abbott touts the billions of dollars the state has spent on Operation Lone Star “with a more than 74% decrease in illegal immigration while at the same time it is increasing in California, Arizona and New Mexico,” he told FOX News.
“This shows that law enforcement works,” Abbott said.

“Texas’ historic border mission works day in and day out to fill the dangerous gaps created by Biden’s open border policies.” Abbott wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
“Operation Lone Star personnel work around the clock to detect and repel illegal crossings, arrest human traffickers and cartel gang members, and stop the flow of deadly drugs like fentanyl into our nation. While the federal government ignores this crisis, Texas stands tall,” Operation Lone Star’s website says.
