The 6-3, 245-pound Johnson, of Terrell, Texas, has racked up scholarship offers from Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, Southern Cal, Oregon, Ole Miss, LSU, Florida State, Nebraska and others during the recruiting process. recruitment.
He recalled the highlights of his visit in April.
“The relationship with Coach Adams and the facilities were nice,” Johnson said. “It seems like they have a great program. I really like it. I like what I’ve seen as far as defensive training.”
Johnson recorded 63 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and 2 pass deflections and one tackle for a safety in 10 games as a junior while wearing a cast on his left wrist after suffering a fracture in the first game of the season.
Terrell co-defensive coordinator Adrian Haywood and his wife Kristen will accompany Johnson on his visit. They are expected to arrive in Fayetteville on Friday and depart on Sunday.
“I’m looking to see great things and see how me, Coach Adams and Coach Green connect and see how things go from there,” Johnson said.
Johnson reports running 22.6 seconds in the 200 meters as a freshman. He did not run track his sophomore or junior year due to injuries.
Johnson, a consensus 3-star football prospect, officially visited SMU in May and plans to visit Texas A&M after his trip to Arkansas.
He is also capable of playing tight end.
“At first, SMU was recruiting me as a tight end, but now they’re recruiting me for edge,” Johnson said. “A&M did too (drafted him as a tight end), but they also traded Edge.”
Johnson said he has no preference which side of the ball he will play on at the next level.
“I’m open to playing wherever the opportunity presents itself,” he said.
Johnson also said he appreciates how Adams and Green recruited him.
“They seem like very genuine guys,” Johnson said. “They don’t seem to be making a show of trying to get you to commit. They seem to be there for you and actually love you as you and not as an extra player on the team.”
Offer for lineman
Class of 2026 offensive lineman Tucker Young received a scholarship offer from Arkansas coach Sam Pittman on Wednesday, a day after attending the Razorbacks’ lineman camp.
Young, 6-5, 300 pounds, from Hot Springs Lakeside, visited Arkansas for the spring game in April. He received a scholarship offer from Memphis on Tuesday.
He reports a 365-pound bench press, a 515-pound squat, and a 5.1-second 40-yard dash time.
Young said Arkansas offensive line coach Eric Mateos told him he liked what he saw from Young during linemen’s camp.
“After I got an offer from Memphis at Arkansas camp, I talked to Coach Mateos and realized he really liked how I performed and contacted me right after camp to tell me how I did,” Young said.
Arkansas special teams coordinator Scott Fountain, who recruits Hot Springs Lakeside, alerted him to the good news coming.
“Coach Fountain told me yesterday that they were going to contact me today, so I knew something good was coming,” Young said Wednesday.
Young is the seventh in-state prospect in the 2026 class to receive an offer from the Razorbacks.
