Celebrating four years of hyperlocal excellence
June 2024 – This June, Delaware LIVE will celebrate its fourth anniversary and deliver daily hyperlocal news to the First State. Born from a vibrant digital newsroom in Kent and Sussex counties, Delaware LIVE was created to meet Delawareans’ growing demand for more comprehensive access to news about their schools, policymakers, decision-makers and local businesses. In a short span of four years, Delaware LIVE has significantly expanded its presence, adding local news outlets such as Milford LIVE, Town Square Live, Chadds Ford Live and Delaware Live Sports. Monthly, more than 200,000 Delawareans actively engage with us through our digital newsrooms, weekly emails, social media platforms and live streaming services.
Why local news is important
Local newsrooms are the most trusted source of credible information for residents, according to a 2023 Gallup national poll of 5,000 adults. Local newspapers were rated the “most trusted and trusted media source” for original reporting, more so than television, radio and social media. As a team, Delaware LIVE continues to build a strong newsroom built on traditional journalism, unbiased reporting and trusted sources. In 2024, Delaware LIVE received a high credibility rating for “adequate sourcing and a clean fact-checking record” and a lower bias rating for “reasonably balanced story selection and minimal editorialization of content” from an independent Media Bias review Fact Check recognized nationally. Delaware LIVE reporters won 10 awards, including five first place awards, in the Delaware Press Association’s 2024 Professional Communications Contest.
Our partners support our communities
We live, work and play in this community and we are able to make it happen thanks, in part, to our advertisers who support the same idea. Thank you to the corporate sponsors and community businesses who help us bring you the news. We appreciate the support of industry leaders including Mountaire and Discover Bank, institutions of higher education including Goldey-Beacon College and Delaware Tech Community College, public-private partnerships including the Delaware Division of Small Business and Delaware Prosperity Partnership, experts in Christiana Health Care. Care and Bayhealth, small business families from Mathnasium and Telepathy Networks, cultural innovators like the Hagley Museum and the Delaware Museum of Nature and Science; and nonprofit organizations, including First State Educate, Easter Seals and the Delaware Boys & Girls Club.
As Delaware LIVE looks to the future, it remains steadfast in its mission to deliver the highest quality hyperlocal news, giving Delawareans the information they need to thrive.
