Veterans assistance organization Helping Veterans And Families of Indiana is expanding its employment services to west-central Indiana.
The Indianapolis-based organization provides a range of services to homeless and at-risk veterans and their families, including housing and employment assistance and access to food and clothing. As part of its strategic plan to expand into new key areas of the state, HVAF has launched a two-year pilot program in the Terre Haute area.
HVAF will partner with Indianapolis-based veterans services provider Intecare to provide housing services to veterans and with Reach Services, a Terre Haute-based nonprofit, to provide a timely employment specialist complete. The specialist will provide personalized career advice and assist with resume building, interview preparation, financial planning and career placement.
“We are pleased to partner with Intecare and Reach Services to add a much-needed employment component to the services available to veterans in west central Indiana,” HVAF Executive Director Emmy Hildebrand said in a news release. “Reach serves nearly 100 veterans annually and our partnership will ensure veterans are best positioned to maintain permanent housing.”
Helping Veterans And Families partners with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and community organizations to provide comprehensive services to veterans facing homelessness in Indiana, according to its website. In 2023, the organization served 1,349 veterans.
