LITTLE, AND WHEN THE RAIN COMES BACK TO A TOWN NEAR YOU, CHRIS, THANK YOU. NOW ON TO OUR 2024 COMMITMENT COVERAGE, BRINGING YOU RACE RESULTS ACROSS THE UPSTATE IN THE U.S. HOUSE DISTRICT THREE RACE, LIEUTENANT COLONEL SHERRY BIGGS CAME TO THE TOP AND SECURED THE NOMINATION THIS EVENING. HERE YOU SEE THE RESULTS WITH 98% OF THE PREMISES REPORTING BIGGS HAS 51% OF THE VOTE TO MARK BURNS, 49%. INCUMBENT JEFF DUNCAN DID NOT SEEK RE-ELECTION. OUR STEPHANIE TROTTER JOINS US FROM HER WATCH PARTY LOCATION IN ANDERSON. LOTS OF CELEBRATION THERE TONIGHT, RIGHT? STEPH. Oh, you better believe it, Carol. IN FACT, HER TEAM SAID SHE WENT FROM UNKNOWN TO KNOWN IN JUST A MATTER OF A COUPLE OF WEEKS. DURING THIS HIS FIRST PRESENTATION FOR PUBLIC OFFICE. THE LIEUTENANT COLONEL PRESENTS herself as an outsider, BUT NOW SHE IS THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR DISTRICT THREE. THE KeynoteUSA HERE TONIGHT WERE A LITTLE NERVOUS, SAYING EVERY VOTE WOULD COUNT, AND IT WAS DEFINITELY A WRONG RACE. HIS TEAM IMPLEMENTED A SHOTGUN KeynoteUSAPROACH. THEY REVIEWED THE 11 COUNTIES THAT CAMPAIGN FROM OCONEE TO SALUDA AND SAID THEY STAND OUT FOR THE CANDIDATE, HER CURRICULUM AND SERVICE TO OTHERS. KeynoteUSA WANT SOMEONE TO GO TO WORK AND WORK HARD FOR THEM AND REPRESENT THEM WELL. WITH INTEGRITY AND PROFESSIONALISM. AND I THINK THAT’S WHY THEY SELECTED ME. YEAH. IN RECENT WEEKS, THE CANDIDATE OBTAINED THE BACKING OF SEVEN STATE SHERIFFS, AS WELL AS THE STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL. HE NEVER COMPLAINED ABOUT FORMER PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP ENDORSEING HIS OPPONENT, SAYING THE TWO CAN DEFINITELY WORK TOGETHER IN DC. COME NOVEMBER. AS FOR HIS RIVAL IN TODAY’S RACE, MARK BURNS, FOR THAT WE GO TO MY COLLEAGUE PEYTON FURTADO PAYTON. I IMAGINE IT WAS A VERY DIFFERENT REACTION TONIGHT THAN A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. STEPHANIE, YOU CAN BET YOUR LAST DOLLAR IT WAS. YES, DIFFERENT REACTION, VERY DIFFERENT MOOD THAN WHAT WE SAW A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. INSTEAD OF CHEERING AND SINGING, WE WATCHED PRAYING AND SINGING AS THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT IT BECAME CLEARER THAT SHERRY BIGGS WOULD BE THE WINNER. NOW, THE ASSOCIATED PRESS CALLED THAT RACE AT KeynoteUSAPROXIMATELY 915 TONIGHT. BURNS WON BIGGS IN THE ORIGINAL PRIMARY, GETTING KeynoteUSAPROXIMATELY 33% OF THE VOTE COMPARED TO BIGGS’S 29%. THESE RESULTS WILL CHANGE TONIGHT. BIGGS AT KeynoteUSAPROXIMATELY 51, BURNS KeynoteUSAPROXIMATELY 49%. THIS AFTERNOON WE CATCHED UP WITH BURNS, WHO TOLD US HE WAS CONFIDENT OF A STRONG VICTORY. While that didn’t happen today, he said it’s important for the Republican Party to stay united. I’M DISKeynoteUSAPOINTED. I mean, WE LEFT EVERYTHING ON THE TABLE AND WE CAMPAIGNED SUPER HARD. BUT THE KeynoteUSA SPOKE. SHERRY BIGGS IS THE ONE. SHE GOT MORE VOTES THAN ME. OBVIOUSLY WE NEED TO SUPPORT THE REPUBLICAN NOMINEE, MAKE SURE SHE WINS. AND OF COURSE, SHE WILL NOT HAVE ANY KIND OF DIVISION IN OUR REPUBLICAN PARTY. Now, Burns, who has already run for public office three times, did not rule out running again. BUT HE SAYS THAT GOING FORWARD, HIS MAIN FOCUS NOW IS SUPPORTING FORMER PRESIDENT, DONALD TRUMP, IN HIS RUN TO THE WHITE HOUSE IN EASLEY.
