On Saturday, 4-star cornerback Mark Zachery made his public commitment to the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and their 2025 football recruiting class.
The 6’0”, 160-pounder from Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, chose the Irish over a heavy offer list that included the Michigan Wolverines, Alabama Crimson Tide, Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, USC Trojans, Oregon Ducks and many more. further.
247 Sports has Zachery as the sixth-best cornerback in the country and On3 Consensus and 247 Composite have him as one of the top 100 players overall.
From 247:
He was one of the first to start at a good high school where he regularly encountered good competition. He was also an outstanding basketball player and his basketball exploits were an additional marker of his athleticism. He plays the ball well in the air and stays in good position to make those plays. He’s average height, but he has the length, timing and athleticism to challenge bigger receivers. He is fluid in the transition and shows enough recovery speed to get close to the ball. He’s a willing tackler, but he needs to get stronger and bulk up to have continued success in college. The athleticism, technical prowess and ball skills suggest an impact player at a major program and could have success as both an outside cornerback and a slot cornerback.
From the Independent School District:
Zackery has the tools to be an exceptional cornerback and could see him playing outside or as a slot defender.
He’s a little light right now, but once he stops playing basketball, it should be much easier for him to add proper weight. Once that happens, he could be ready to compete for playing time right away at Notre Dame.
Zachery is the 22nd commitment for the 2025 recruiting class and the first from Indiana for the Fighting Irish. The class is now represented by 13 different states across the country and is currently ranked No. 1 based on all 247 team-based rankings.

Mike Mickens deserves a lot of love for what he’s doing in the recruiting process. Two of Notre Dame’s top four recruits are cornerbacks (Mark Zachery and Dallas Golden) and there is a third cornerback in Cree Thomas with a ton of upside and potential. The Irish secondary looks lethal in this class.

The Irish haven’t recruited some of the state’s top talent lately, but Zachery is as good as any year, from anywhere. This is a HUGE commitment for Notre Dame and one that could see an impact immediately.
