Connie Pion considers her five older dogs members of the family — she won’t travel anywhere unless you can accompany her.
Pion, from Charlton, said it was a challenge to find a pet friendly property on cape cod.
“There are a lot of pet-friendly properties, but they’re not on the beach,” he told Wicked Local. “But many properties near beaches don’t allow pets.”
However, Pion was happy to find the Surfside Hotel and Suites in Provincetown, which is located on a pet-friendly beach. However, she had to pay an additional fee of $43 per night per dog. There is no additional charge for service animals staying with people with disabilities.

Pion is regional sales director for two pet-friendly properties — Publick House Historic Inn in Stockbridge and the Hostal Colonial Concordia in Concordia.
Many brides and grooms have pets as part of their ceremonies and receptions, which is allowed at Publick House, Pion said.
“They are absolutely welcome to do so and we encourage them to be a part of the wedding,” she said.
You’ve seen pets as ring bearers or flower girls. “It’s so adorable,” she said.
Hotels that allow pets expect certain guidelines to be followed
Both inns offer water and drinking fountains for pets.
There are guidelines that guests with pets are expected to follow, Pion said, such as posting a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door and locking pets inside the room if they are left alone.
Pets must also be leashed and under the owner’s control when outside their rooms. Pets cannot be left unattended at any time to the extent that it becomes a nuisance to staff or guests.
Pets must be removed from the room for housekeeping services. And they cannot join owners in restaurants or taverns, unless they are service animals for people with disabilities.
Some properties charge additional fees per night for pets, Pion said. These rates vary by property.
Some hotels and inns may not allow more than two pets per room and may also have weight limits. Most properties have certain floors or wings dedicated to pet-friendly rooms.
Azul – Beach Inn in Newbury allows up to two dogs (70 pounds or less) in its pet-friendly unit. The dog fee is $50 per night. However, the beach does not allow dogs between 8:30 am and 5:30 pm, from May 15 to September 15.
Hotel Kimpton Marlowin Cambridge, has no limit on the number of pets or their weight, and does not charge additional room fees.
The hotel also offers pet-friendly services at no additional charge. It offers its furry guests water fountains, free disposable collection bags, and has a pet concierge who can help arrange walking or grooming services.
