I am a soft drink lover. In fact, as I write this article, I’m wearing a t-shirt that proudly displays my favorite soda. I’m not a coffee drinker, so carbonated drinks are my afternoon pick-me-up and are my drink of choice when water is too boring. And although I’ve lived in the Beehive State most of my life, I have a confession to make… I’ve never visited Swig, one of Utah‘s most popular soda shops. With over 40 Swig locations in Utah, I’m probably one of the few who can make this claim.
Swig is one of the first soda shops to emerge in Utah. Its first store opened in St. George in 2010, near the current Utah Technological University campus.
Swig quickly became popular for its “dirty sodas.” These are brand-name soft drinks with flavored syrups, creams, or fruit purees added to create a tasty, personalized drink.
In just over a decade, Swig has expanded to more than 40 locations in Utah and eight other states.
And while many people come to Swig for the sodas, this is just the beginning of the menu items. For example, there are revitalizing energy drinks, soft drinks based on sparkling water or regular water, and hot chocolate.
When you visit, you can choose from several signature drinks or create your own, ensuring you have the perfect drink for whatever activity is next on your agenda.
Just make sure you don’t leave Swig without trying one of their pink frosted sugar cookies or their salty pretzel bites.
Despite the amazing menu (sugar cookies are my guilty pleasure!), I’ve still driven by dozens of Swigs, without stopping even once.
I understand that you may laugh at my confession, but Swig has established such a cult following that they even sell all kinds of products, from sweaters to glasses. Swig gift cards are also quite popular.
Don’t kick me out of Utah just yet… Someday I’ll have a drink and a cookie from Swig. I promise.
