KSNF/KODE — Inconsistent trash collection by an Arkansas-based trash company is impacting residents in the Four-State area.
Residents told us that it has been several weeks and even months since they have seen a CARDS Recycling garbage truck pass by.
These complaints have reached the desk of the Missouri Attorney General and are now under investigation with the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
“This is a unique type of business that has this type of problem; recycling services are not a high-risk type of business, that’s what we call them here,” said Cara Carlin, director of communications for BBB Arkansas.
The Arkansas Better Business Bureau says that after 109 complaints in the last 12 months, CARDS Recycling has an F rating with the agency.
“So what we’re seeing is that most complaints center around billing, general service or customer service issues. The company responded to some of the filed complaints and resolved some of the issues. That said, there is still some opportunity for business to recover if the issues are addressed, but right now we are seeing an influx of complaints and customer reviews,” Carlin said.
CARDS Recycling customers have also approached us complaining that their rubbish has not been collected for several days or weeks, and some even say months.
Along with Missouri AG, the BBB also launched an investigation into the reported issues.
“Yes, we are trying to contact the company to find out what the issues are and again they are receiving complaints and responding to some,” Carlin said.
The complaints haven’t just come from the Four States area.
“We are also having trouble getting a full report on the business. I mean, to the extent that the locations that we have are three locations in Arkansas, we know that they serve other areas. So we are not 100% sure. What we do know is what we have been told and the public information is that they are in the Dallas, Oklahoma City and East area. We have some reports, of course, from Missouri, Kansas, and then we have central Arkansas, northwest Arkansas and our River Valley region,” Carlin said.
The company issued a statement to the BBB. But garbage problems continue for some customers.
“Yes, and it all goes back to that service issue. Something is happening. There’s a service glitch, you know, and we’re not 100% sure what it is,” Carlin said.
We have contacted CARDS Recycling several times but have yet to receive a response.
The company recently sent a letter to some of its customers, stating that the company must cancel services due to a lack of employees.
