NEW Jersey – Enjoy the sunshine on Sunday in New Jersey, because the chance for storms has increased significantly for Memorial Day, according to the National Weather Service.
In an update Saturday night, the weather service said there is a possibility of widespread severe weather on Monday and flooding is also possible.

A warm and increasingly humid air mass over eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey will collide with a cold front that is expected to reach the area on Monday, forecasters said. Thunderstorms will be possible Monday morning and will increase throughout the afternoon, becoming stronger with the potential for hail and heavy rain.

North Jersey
Sunday: Patchy fog before 8 am A chance of showers, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 pm Otherwise partly sunny, with a high near 82. South wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30 percent.
Sunday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2 am. Patchy fog after 2 am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Calm wind. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent.
Memorial Day: A chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 8 a.m. High near 72 . Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New possible rainfall amounts range from one-half to three-quarters of an inch.
Monday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 a.m., then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rain. Low around 63. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New rainfall amounts between three-quarters and 1 inch possible.
