Legal representatives for former Kansas City, Kansas, police Detective Roger Golubski returned to court Thursday. Before Thursday’s hearing, a demonstration demanding justice was held in front of the courthouse. It included emotional comments from a woman who said Golubski raped her. “There was a time when I was a rape victim,” Michelle Houcks said. “Right now, I’m a survivor and I’m going to continue to survive.” Tears flowed as Michelle Houcks talked about what she says Roger Golubski did to her more than 25 years ago. What happened to Houcks is part of the federal case against the former KCK detective. May Henderson was also at the demonstration. She didn’t talk about her, but May said that years ago Golubski falsely arrested her and beat her. Henderson says she filed a complaint, but nothing was done. “Wyandotte County has always been corrupt,” she said. “The police department has always been corrupt. I’ve never been to hell, but I know what it’s like.” Golubski faces two cases related to sexual abuse and trafficking of women. The former detective last appeared in court on February 29. Earlier this year, a federal judge denied a motion to revoke his pretrial house arrest and jail him. That motion came after Golubski was photographed and videotaped at Culver’s restaurant in KCK in January. A federal judge denied the motion, stating that a single rape in a year and a half was not enough to revoke pretrial house arrest. In one of the federal cases against him, Golubski is accused of abusing his authority as a law enforcement officer to repeatedly sexually assault two victims, including a minor. In the other case, he is accused of helping run a sex trafficking ring targeting several young women. , including a minor. If the case goes to trial, the judge said he wants to set a date for the next hearing, scheduled for July 10.
