A six-alarm fire Thursday night destroyed several buildings that were part of a horse farm in Templeton, Massachusetts, video from the scene showed. The fire leveled several buildings at Liberty-Belle Stables on Patriots Road in Templeton. Templeton firefighters responded to the scene after receiving reports of a heavy fire in the area between the house and the horse barn. “The first crews that arrived did a very, very good job getting the horses out safely,” said Deputy Chief Rick Paine of the Templeton Fire Department. “All the horses were accounted for.” Paine said the flames spread very quickly to the first barn and made their way to the riding stable. Paine said flames shot 40 to 50 feet into the air, along with intense heat. “Both horse farms at the riding school were a total loss,” Paine said. He said the home suffered moderate fire damage. “There was a two-car garage between the house and the barn and that appears to be the area where the heavy fire occurred when the first crews arrived,” Paine said. “That was attached to the barn and very quickly went through the barn.” “We had some problems establishing a water supply, but we got over it quickly and all the crews did a great job,” Paine said. . Paine said the fire spread very quickly. “I’ve been to this barn several times, it’s very old and very dry,” Paine said. “This was very, very fast.” An excavator was expected to demolish the remaining building, so fire investigators could try to determine the cause. “A lot of the horse owners have come here to help,” Paine said. “I think they said we have about 23 horses in the back, and there are 1 to 2 people with each horse. We’ll keep them somewhere safe in the back.” Paine said many volunteers brought many trailers. “Places have been created for all the horses,” Paine said. “The police came early. They were instrumental in getting the horses out. They were. They did an amazing job,” Paine said.
