Temperatures rise this week with more summer storms in central Alabama. Check out the video forecast for the latest news. MONDAY Some showers are still possible overnight. Otherwise, the sky will be mostly cloudy. Temperatures fall into the 60s and 70s early in the morning. Some patchy fog is possible. DAYS OF IMPACT TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY Scattered thunderstorms are likely on Tuesday. A storm is possible at any time of the day, but the best coverage will probably be during the afternoon and early evening hours. There is a low risk of one or two storms becoming strong during the heat of the day. The main threats of the strongest storms are strong winds and small hail. Any storm that develops will also have the potential to produce frequent lightning and heavy rain. The meteorological “ring of fire” will set in and send a few waves of strong storms southward from the Plains between Tuesday and Thursday. These storm complexes are very difficult to time, but if they reach Alabama, they can carry a risk of strong to severe winds. You can plan for increased rain and thunderstorm coverage between Wednesday and Thursday across central Alabama. The ‘threats’ will be typical summer storms with heavy rain, frequent lightning, hail and possible strong gusts of wind. READY FOR THE WEEKEND? This weekend doesn’t look like a bust, but a small chance of storms is almost inevitable this time of year, with high amounts of heat and humidity. That said, a frontal boundary is expected to move through Alabama on Friday, briefly reducing humidity for some. This will not last long. Warm, humid weather will quickly return with a slight chance of thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday. You can anticipate highs in the upper 80s and generally sunny skies.
