A family in Raymond said they are managing as best they can after having their power turned off and on since Monday’s storms. One of them depends on electricity for his oxygen tank. “She’s on oxygen and she really hasn’t had oxygen in two days,” Amanda Bishop said. Bishop rushed to load his mother’s oxygen tank after her power briefly turned on Tuesday. But that didn’t last long, as more powerful storms sent the Fox Run Drive community back into the darkness. “It’s hot. I hope they restore the power soon because we can’t wash my work clothes,” Bishop said. “I mean, we can’t do anything and (on Tuesday) they had the road blocked. “We couldn’t even get out.” Bishop said except for that brief respite, they have been without power since Monday night. They’ve been grilling outside and making do with a generator they just bought. Entergy officials said that as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, power was restored to 26,924 customers. As of 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, 10,286 customers were without power. “As a result of the two storms, the Vicksburg, Brookhaven and Natchez areas sustained significant damage and at this time, we do not have an estimated restoration time for these areas,” said Entergy spokeswoman Candace Coleman. Coleman said outages in other areas have estimated restoration times, which can be found on Entergy’s outage map. “I know they are trying; It just takes a while. It’s usually been here for a while, usually about three days,” Bishop said. Coleman said that so far, Entergy crews have reported damage to 45 poles, 10 transformers and 34 crossarms. There are also more than 190 sections of downed wire. Hundreds of crews are working to restore power.
