After a cool start on Monday with no humidity, southerly winds will return the rest of the week bringing plenty of heat and humidity for the foreseeable future.
Indiana, USA — Summer is about 10 days away and counting, and the weather will be ready for it. After a rapid cool-down at the start of the week, southerly winds will return to Indiana, helping to increase heat and humidity in the coming days.

Enjoy the brief cooldown Indiana will get on Monday and Tuesday. Highs should remain in the 70s. For some cities north of Indianapolis, highs may remain in the 60s. There will be no humidity as the northerly winds will keep the air cool and refreshing. At least for the next two weeks, this may be our last 70 for a while, except for the morning lows.
Large changes in wind direction
Northerly winds will remain for about another day in Indiana as a series of weak cold fronts have moved through the Ohio River Valley.
These fronts also keep rain chances low. Every time a front passes, it produces light, scattered rain, but generally keeps the weather muggy, muggy, and stormy to the south. Scattered showers and chances for thunderstorms will continue for a few days across the Deep South as Indiana remains dry.
Southerly winds and heat will arrive later this week
Southerly winds will gradually return. If we add the sun to that, temperatures will be forced to rise. We’ll probably have a lot of upper 80s this week, plus a few 90s at times.
Humidity will also increase, especially starting Thursday. Then expect warm, humid weather over the weekend and early next week.
As an upper-level low moves east toward the Atlantic, warmer air is likely across much of the country. Highs in the Great Lakes will remain 10 to 15 degrees above normal for Father’s Day weekend.
Many Hoosiers will remain dry all week. There is a quick trick. On Friday, a weak front will slide south across the Great Lakes to try to relieve the heat. However, it may just cut Indiana. Temperatures can drop a couple of degrees during a day with some showers or storms emerging.
Other than that. We are getting hot and dry.
Looking to the future
After Father’s Day weekend, we are watching for a change in the weather pattern. Some tropical moisture may combine with a front over the central US that will eventually bring showers and a chance for storms to Indiana. Look for wetter weather after Father’s Day. Until then, prepare for the summer heat.
