The Tennessee Volunteers and the Evansville Aces meet in Game 3 of the Knoxville Super Regional and the winner will punch their ticket to Omaha for the College World Series. It would be the third time in four years that Tony Vitello and his team would travel to Omaha.
The Vols won the first game of this series 11 to 6, and the Aces won the second game 10 to 8. The winner of the third game takes all, with first pitch scheduled for 7:00 pm EST. We will have all the updates live here on Volunteer Country.

First inning: Two outs batting continues to score runs for Evansville (1-1), Moore starts hot
Above: Zander Sechrist will start for the Vols. Simon Scherry starts for the Aces in Game 3. A grounder to shortstop cannot be fielded and Scherry reaches first base on the error. Sechrist gets Shallenberger to strike out looking for the first out. Fougerousse comes to the plate next and strikes out swinging for the second out. C. Hug is the next batter and hits a ball towards first base, Blake Burke throws the ball but fails to get out, extending the inning. Brent Widder comes to the plate now and hits a single to left field, a play at the plate is close but the Aces base runner is declared safe. The play is confirmed in replay. (0-1) McGinnis pops to center field for the final out.
Bottom: LHP Kevin Reed starts for Evansville. Christian Moore leads off Vols with undoubted home run (1-1) Burke hits a would-be single to right field, but he misses it and Burke turns it into a double. Billy Amick steps in next as he pops to right field for the first out of the inning. Dreiling goes to left field for the second out of the inning. H. Ensley jumps to first base for the third and final out.
Second inning: The Aces go quietly in the second, (4-1) The Vols go deep twice
Above: B. Hord pops to right field for the first out of the inning. H. Taubert strikes out swinging, Sechrist’s third K of the contest. A ground ball to the leadoff hitter ends in a single into the field by T. Rumsey. One pitch later, S. Scherry appears on the infield for the final out of the top half.
Below: K. Tears grounds out to shortstop for the first out of the inning. D. Curley steps in next and hits a ball completely out of the park for the second run of the day. (2-1) D. Bargo hits a ball off the scoreboard in the next at-bat. (3-1) C. Stark draws a walk. C. Moore approaches the plate with one on and one out. A passed pass advances Stark to second base. C. Moore walked on four pitches to make it two with one out for Blake Burke. A pitching change brings N. Smith to the mound for the Aces. A ground ball to third base that should have been a double play ends in an error at second base bought by C. Moore. B. Hord hits a line drive to second base for the second out. Sechrist gets hit with a line drive off the bat of T. Rumsey and extends the inning for the Aces. S. Scherry comes to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs. Scherry grounded out to second base for the final out of the inning.
Bottom – D. Bargo hits another home run in the bottom of the fourth to extend the lead. (6-1) C. Stark hits a ground ball at shortstop. C. Moore sees 10 pitches in an at-bat that ends with a home run to center field to extend the lead. (7-1). Blake Burke hits one to center field and the Aces can’t put a glove on it, it’s a one-out double for Burke. Amick hits the next pitch over the batter’s eye in center field for another home run. (9-1). Dreiling fouls third base for the second out of the inning. A five-pitch walk to H. Ensley brings a pitching change for the Aces. Ensley is thrown out at second base trying to steal for the final out.
Fifth inning: Aces go 1,2,3 in the top half. (12-1)
Above: Sechrist returns to the mound for the fifth inning and Shallenberger grounds out to the pitcher for the first out. Fourgerousse flied out to right field for the second out of the inning. C. Hug comes to the plate and strikes out looking for the third and final out of the inning.
Below: K. Tears hits a line drive to left field to lead off the bottom half. D. Curley is hit by a two-out pitch. Bargo strikes out swinging for the first out of the inning. Cal Stark hits a three-run homer to continue extending the Vols’ lead. (12-1) C. Moore grounds out to third base for the second out of the inning. Burke hits a double with two outs to continue the inning. B. Amick lines up to end the inning.
Sixth inning: A scoreless sixth inning on both sides.
Above: B. Widder leads off the sixth with a fly ball to left field. CJ McGinnis reaches base with an infield single. B. Hord strikes out for the second out of the inning followed by a groundout by H. Taubert to end the top half.

Seventh inning: Vols keep the Aces scoreless again in the seventh (12-1)

That will be enough for Sechrist, who pitches 6.1 innings and comes out of the game in line for the win. Nate Snead gets the call from the bullpen. Snead strikes out Scherry with the second out of the inning. C. Moore throws a grounder off Shallenberger’s bat to first for the final out of the seventh.

Eighth inning: Evansville again scoreless in the eighth. (12-1)
