PLYMOUTH – Chief Neil Foley is pleased to announce that five Plymouth firefighters graduated from the Massachusetts Fire Academy (MFA) on Friday afternoon.
Firefighters Brittney Asher, Wesley Pecor, Brandon Sheehan, Alec Thompson and Daniel Ulmer were among 31 graduates from 14 fire departments who graduated from Class #321 of the Academy’s Professional Recruitment Firefighter Training Program. Graduates completed the 50-day Professional Firefighting Recruit Training Program at the Stow campus.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Chief Foley, other department chiefs and members, and the families and friends of the recruits.
“On behalf of the Plymouth Fire Department, I would like to congratulate firefighters Asher, Pecor, Sheehan, Thompson and Ulmer on their graduation from the Massachusetts Fire Academy Professional Recruitment Program,” said Chief Foley. “These graduates are now well prepared to serve the Plymouth community and we look forward to welcoming them to the department.”
The program teaches the basics of fire and non-fire conditions, life safety, search and rescue, ladder operations, water supply, pump operation, and fire attack. Graduates are now certified at the Firefighter I and II level and in hazardous materials operation.
“Massachusetts Fire Academy instructors draw on decades of experience in the fire service to train new recruits,” said Massachusetts Fire Academy Director Eric Littmann. “Through consistent classroom instruction and hands-on exercises, today’s graduates have developed the tools they will need to seamlessly work with veteran firefighters in their home departments and in surrounding communities as mutual aid.”
The other 26 graduates of Class #321 represent the fire departments of Acton, Beverly, Boxborough, Gloucester, Haverhill, Ipswich, Natick, Northborough, Randolph, Scituate, Southborough, Wellesley and Woburn.
