Kentucky and Illinois now have a new first pitch time thanks to likely weather interference in Lexington later Saturday night.
According to the Kentucky baseball Twitter account, the Wildcats and Illini will kick off just under an hour after completing Saturday’s first game in the Lexington Regional between Indiana State and Western Michigan.
Here was the news straight from the source:
“Due to impending weather, tonight’s game has been delayed until 55 minutes after the conclusion of Game 3 (approximately 4 pm ET). Game 4 ticket holders are allowed into the stadium during Game 3, but Game 3 ticket holders keep all seats reserved. until game 3 ends.”

Nick Mingione is delighted to be the regional host
By Sam Gillenwater
Home field advantage is obviously a big problem for Kentucky, as Nick Mingione explained this week following his second overall pick.
There is a history of teams earning the honor of competing for a national championship, so it has always been an emphasis for them and something they are happy to have accomplished over the past two seasons.
“You know, when you look at the history of the teams that came to Omaha? Obviously, playing at home has a great benefit,” Mingione said at that press conference. “We always wanted the road to Omaha to go through here. Obviously, we haven’t put ourselves in a position where we can do that until this year.”
“It will definitely be an advantage to play at home,” Mingione said.
Kentucky only clinched a regional berth last season instead of that and the super regional. They won the Lexington Regional with victories over Ball status, West Virginiaand Indiana. However, his year ended after losing both matches against L.S.U.eventual national champion, in the Baton Rouge Super Regional.
However, in 2024, the Wildcats will have the opportunity to host both. UK will begin this weekend against a field that includes Western Michigan on Friday together with Indiana State and Illinois. If they advance, they will face the winner of the Corvallis Regional, which could be any of Oregon State, University of California, Irvine, Nicholls Estateand tulaneat Kentucky Proud Park.
