U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts issued a statement saying, “This trial was conducted to boost District Attorney Bragg’s political career and to harm President Trump’s re-election efforts. It is terrifying to see an institution so central to our republic taken over by activists attempting to manipulate the democratic process. This trial has undermined American confidence in our judicial system. I look forward to Donald Trump’s appeal and hope that the process is fairer than we have seen to date.” Congressman Don Bacon called the verdict “unprecedented” in a statement. “This is an unprecedented prosecution for a rarely charged crime, led by a prosecutor who campaigned to go after Trump. That undermines the credibility of the verdict. I have confidence in our legal system, which includes the appeals process. “Congressman Mike Flood wants the public to wait and see how the decision is made. What is to come unfolds. “This is just the first step in the judicial process.
