BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Governor Jeff Landry signed several bills into law Tuesday, May 28 at the Louisiana State Capitol.
The governor signed bills on education, safety, health, the economy and the New Orleans Water and Sewer Board.
“What today symbolizes is the continued promise that we made to the people of Louisiana, not only to me but also to many of the legislators who are here today, to work on public safety issues, to work on educational issues to allow teachers teach and work on economic issues. problems too,” Landry said.
Landry has already signed Senate Bill 276, which makes abortion pills, mifepristone and misoprostol, Schedule IV controlled dangerous substances in Louisiana. He had a signing ceremony Tuesday.

House Bill 117: This bill creates the “Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale” special license plate.
House Bill 965: This bill requires the New Orleans Water and Sewer Board to present each residential customer with the option to pay a fixed monthly fee for services.
House Bill 593: This bill allows the New Orleans Water and Sewer Board to hire employees from outside the municipality under specified circumstances.
House Bill 651: This bill allows the insurance commissioner to subpoena individuals for hearings or investigative proceedings related to fraud.
House Bill 173 – This bill makes it a crime to approach an on-duty peace officer within 25 feet.
House Bill 64: This bill prohibits the retail sale of nitrous oxide.
House Bill 335: This bill makes changes to the obligation to report cases of child abuse.
House Bill 322: This bill prohibits a principal or administrator of a school from discouraging a teacher from taking disciplinary action against a student.
House Bill 125: This bill aims to protect bus drivers from assault.
Senate Bill 60 and House Bill 716: These bills make changes to occupational licensing.
Senate Bill 165: This bill makes changes to non-compete agreements for primary care physicians.
Senate Bill 166: This bill prohibits deceptive packaging and marketing of seafood products.
Senate Bill 148: This bill authorizes a physician to request an override if the prescription medication required by a health coverage plan for postpartum depression under step therapy or a failed first protocol is not indicated by the Administration.
