BEFORE. SOMETHING ELSE IS GOING UP A LITTLE. THOSE TEMPERATURES FOR US, BUT WE HOPE THAT HERE IN SOUTHEAST Louisiana, IT’S TYPICAL TO FEEL THAT TRIPLE-DIGIT HEAT INDEX. WE ACTUALLY HAVE A COLD FRONT THAT IS RIGHT ABOVE US, RIGHT? A COLD FRONT OR A NOT SO WARM FRONT, YOU KNOW, CALLING IT A COLD FRONT IS A LOT OF DEMAND, BUT IT REALLY IS. BUT EACH DEGREE MAKES A DIFFERENCE. I AGREE, TOMORROW AFTERNOON MAY FEEL A LITTLE MORE COMFORTABLE THAN THIS AFTERNOON BECAUSE OF THE HUMIDITY. YES, REALLY. WE ARE TRACKING SOME SHOWERS RIGHT NOW ON OUR LIVE CAMERAS AND AT WDSU. FIRST WARNING RADAR, WE WILL SHOW EXACTLY WHERE THOSE SHOWERS ARE. THEY MOVE VERY, VERY, VERY SLOWLY. REALLY NOT MUCH. THUNDER AND LIGHTNING. A LIGHTNING FLASH IN THE LAST 15 MINUTES. AND THAT INCLUDES OUR ENTIRE AREA THAT YOU’RE LOOKING AT HERE. Here is a rain that has appeared. It appeared just above Belle Chase moving very, very slowly towards the east. BUT NO LIGHTNING FALLS IN THAT LARGE AREA OF RAIN THAT LOOKS LIKE IT’S GOING TO HKeynoteUSAPEN NORTH OF GRAND ISLE. WE HAD A SHOWER THAT DEVELOPED RIGHT ON THE TOP OF THE BEAUTIFUL GRAND ISLE ABOUT TEN 15 MINUTES AGO, AND THEN A FEW SHOWERS ARE MOVING IN VERY SLOWLY FROM THE WEST AND TOWARD THE EAST. OUR OPPORTUNITY RIGHT NOW FOR RAIN. OFFICIALLY AT 30%, THAT MEANS 70% OF US SHOULD BE DRY THIS AFTERNOON. BUT LOOK AT THE TEMPERATURES. 79 IN GALLIANO, 79 GRAND ISLE, READINGS COOL DUE TO THE RAIN THERE. EVERYTHING ELSE NEAR 90 DEGREES. NOW HERE’S A LOOK AT THEIR CURRENT CONDITIONS AT LOUIS ARMSTRONG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT. THAT 2.73 SHOULD GO DOWN A LITTLE TOMORROW AFTERNOON. THANKS TO THIS COLD FRONT. YES, IT IS BY DEFINITION, BUT IT IS VERY, VERY WEAK, BRINGING US SLIGHTLY DRYER AIR OVERNIGHT TONIGHT INTO TOMORROW. A LOT IS GOING ON IN THE TROPICS, BUT NOTHING WE ARE FOLLOWING TO DEVELOP DURING THE NEXT 48 HOURS. CLOUD COVERAGE IN THE CARIBBEAN THAT ACTUALLY EXTENDS FROM THE BAHAMAS INTO THE CENTRAL PORTION OF THE CARIBBEAN. RIGHT NOW, THIS IS ASSOCIATED WITH AN UPPER LEVEL TLOW. AND THAT’S REALLY FOR TROPICAL WAVES IN THE INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE. BUT THE HURRICANE CENTER DOES NOT EXPECT DEVELOPMENT FROM ANY OF THEM. HERE ARE YOUR SCATTERED AFTERNOON SHOWERS, MAYBE AN ISOLATED STORM UNTIL THREE 330 AT 4:00 OR SO. ONCE WE GET TO DINNER TIME, SHOWERS SHOULD BE SETTING IN AND THEN SOME SLIGHTLY, SLIGHTLY COOLER, DRYER AIR MOVING IN TOMORROW MORNING 71 IN BOGALUSA, 72 IN SLIDELL. SO YEAH, FEELING A LITTLE MORE COMFORTABLE TOMORROW AFTERNOON. WE COULD HAVE A COUPLE OF SHOWERS BUT MAINLY THEY WILL BE VERY CLOSE TO THE COAST. ON THE SOUTH COAST. CHANCE OF RAIN TOMORROW OFFICIALLY AT 20%. THIS IS YOUR BEST RAIN CHANCE. IT COMES IN OUR EXTENDED FORECAST. WE GO FROM FRIDAY TO THE WEEKEND. THE TROPICAL WAVE THAT WILL MOVE FROM THE CARIBBEAN TOWARDS THE GULF OF MEXICO, BRINGING INCREASED CHANCES OF RAIN TO FLORIDA. BUT THEN, AS WE GET TO SUNDAY AND MONDAY, THERE WE GO. LOOKS LIKE THINGS ARE GOING TO BE WET FOR US. BUT ONCE AGAIN, A VERY DISORGANIZED TROPICAL WAVE IS WHAT IS SEEN NOW. PARTLY CLOUDY, WARM AND WET TODAY. 30% CHANCE OF SCATTERED SHOWERS. AND YES, AN ISOLATED STORM TONIGHT. It’s going to be muggy again, but on the north coast you’ll get a degree or two. COLDER SHOWERS END VERY QUICKLY AFTER DINNER. AND THEN TOMORROW WE WILL OFFICIALLY PUT THE CHANCE OF RAIN AT 20%, MAINLY FOR THE SOUTH COAST. PARTLY CLOUDY AND WILL BE ONLY A LITTLE LESS WET. CHANCE OF RAIN UP TO 10% IN THE AFTERNOON FOR WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY AND FRIDAY. SATURDAY. IT LOOKS LIKE THE DRYER OF THE TWO DAYS OF THE WEEKEND. THERE IS A CHANCE OF RAIN RIGHT NOW. UP TO 50% ON SUNDAY AND WE COULD INCREASE THAT A LITTLE MORE AS WE GET CLOSER. SUNDAY AND MONDAY. BOTH LOOKING TO BE ON AND OFF SOMETHING WET FOR US. AGAIN, THANKS TO THAT TROPICAL

The former owner of a Metairie jewelry store has been arrested and accused of stealing from his customers. Sheriff Craig Webre said Thomas Birdsall, 64, was arrested in connection with a watch that was stolen from a man in the summer of 2021. The victim took a watch valued at $50,000 to Birdsall Jewelry and Gifts for repair. Webre said Birdsall told the resident he would try to repair the clock or send it in for repairs. After Hurricane Ida, Birdsall removed everything from the store and told the victim that he did not remember if he had sent his watch in for repair. Birdsall is accused of cutting off all contact with the victim. Birdsall was arrested in Jefferson Parish and charged with one count of felony robbery. He was subsequently released with an ankle monitor. Webre believes there may be other victims. Anyone who brought high-priced jewelry to Birdsall Jewelry and Gifts before Hurricane Ida and did not receive it back is asked to contact Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office investigators. Residents should gather all documents related to the jewelry and the transaction before contacting detectives at 985-532-4320. Residents can also email info@lpso.net.
