Washington – Summer is getting closer and closer and daylight saving time is starting to take effect. Luckily, the nation’s capital has plenty of bars with special summer deals and events.
Here are six places in DC for a unique summer bar experience:
Located in Adams Morgan, this lounge has a surplus of whiskey options, shellfish to eat, balcony lounges, and tiki bars to relax. Throughout June, Jack Rose celebrates sunny days and summer nights with its Sunny Days. Happy Hour Thursday through Saturday with $6 beers and half-price snacks and Summer Nights on Fridays and Saturdays with a $10 beer and drink combo.
A full-service Latin cocktail bar, Serenata craft cocktails are inspired by Latin America and many contain tequila, mezcal, and rum. For Father’s Day, Serenata will host the “King’s Service Experience,” to honor father figures. Tables will receive complimentary cigars and small bites. Frequent DC artist DJ Lalee will headline the music.
Service Bar DC, a 2024 James Beard finalist, has an ever-changing cocktail menu meant to spice up locals. Their menu serves classic American food and is constantly changing, except for the fried chicken, which they claim is perfect. On June 10, Service Bar will partner with three other bars crafting cocktails from 6pm to 10pm in the Dead Rabbit Pub’s Taproom extension as part of the Bar Convent Brooklyn bar and beverage fair.
Owner Ryan Chetiyawardana runs a bar that attempts to capture America’s diverse cultural heritage on the lower level of the Riggs Hotel. On June 10, Silver Lyan will showcase its signature drinks, music and more from 6 pm to 10 pm This event partners with three of DC’s best bars: Service Bar, Allegor and Press Club, celebrating the Covnent Brooklyn Bar with a twist different. Green Zone, an award-winning cocktail bar and restaurant, bills itself as the only Middle Eastern cocktail bar in DC on its Instagram. Drinks like Saz’iraq, Lebanese No. 1, Janissary Corps and the legendary Mint Lemonade represent their Middle Eastern touch. On Fridays, they host Arab and Middle Eastern DJs to spin tunes. Saturday is International DJ Day.
A local sports bar in Columbia Heights, Thirsty Crow DC, serves a varied menu including Malaysian dishes. One of their popular drinks is the Tea’s Knees, which has black tea-infused gin and slate honey syrup. Their hours are Monday to Thursday, from 5 pm to 11 pm from Monday to Thursday and from 5 pm to 2 am from Friday to Saturday. They host King Trivia from 7pm to 9pm on Tuesdays and have pool tables for $10 an hour.
